National Volunteer Week: April 21-27, 2024
National Volunteer Week is an annual celebration of the impact of volunteer service and the power of volunteers to tackle society’s greatest challenges, to build stronger communities and be a force that transforms the world. This special week highlights the impact of volunteer efforts in strengthening communities and enriching lives.
About National Volunteer Week
The inaugural Volunteer Week was observed in Canada in 1943, honoring the significant role of women during World War II. The United States adopted this tradition in 1974 when President Richard Nixon issued an executive order to establish National Volunteer Week. Since then, the observance has gained international recognition, with numerous countries participating in a growing array of volunteer activities and events each year.
