Did you know nearly one out of three adults and one out of four students struggle to afford period products? In fact, two out of five teens have worn period products longer than recommended due to lack of access, which can put their health at risk.
Without these essentials, many people are forced to miss school, work and daily activities — widening economic and social gaps.
That’s why United Way Hands On is tackling this critical issue by hosting the second annual Period Supply Drive together with United Way of Central Alabama (UWCA) and Women United. Held during Women’s History Month, our initiative ensures individuals across all six counties we serve have access to essential menstrual and hygiene products
Last Year Made an Impact – Let’s Do Even More in 2025
Thanks to this community’s generosity, last year’s Period Supply Drive produced donations of more than 30,000 period products and 1,000 supply kits for teens, which were distributed to more than 20 agencies and schools across Central Alabama. This year, we’re aiming to do even more.
