United Way Hands On needs your help! Each year, Hands On receives backpacks filled with school supplies to donate to local agencies that support homeless children (elementary, middle and high school) or those in need. These backpacks provide some school necessities and additional items needed to prepare them for a productive school year. We are asking the public to donate backpacks filled with school supplies for children at agencies such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, Ronald McDonald House, and Salvation Army, just to name a few.
We estimate that we will need 1,500 backpacks filled with school supplies. Please see the school supply list for the type of items that can be included in the backpacks. For more information on how to donate backpacks filled with school supplies as well as drop-off locations, please contact Tawanna Willoughby – Community Liaison at twilloughby@uwca.org or 205.251.5849.
