A Place for Play, Connection, and Community in Blount County
In celebration of United Way of Central Alabama’s 100th anniversary, United Way Hands On is partnering with local leaders and volunteers to create the Blount County Centennial Park—a shared space that celebrates community and inspires connection.
Construction begins in Fall 2025, with a ribbon cutting celebration planned for November 2025.
How You Can HelpIntroducing the United Way Blount County Centennial Park
In celebration of its centennial anniversary in 2023, United Way of Central Alabama launched the Centennial Parks initiative to create accessible recreational spaces that foster community connections and enhance quality of life. Following the successful completion of parks in Jefferson, Shelby and Walker counties, construction is now underway for Blount County’s Centennial Park.
Designed to meet the unique needs of the community, this park will feature amenities such as outdoor classrooms, sports fields, recreation areas, and green spaces, providing residents with a vibrant hub for recreation and connection.
Located in Susan Moore, the park will enhance an existing walking track and create new opportunities for recreation and gathering. The site will include:
- Landscaping and amenities to make the space more accessible, inviting, and family-friendly
- A covered pavilion designed for community events, picnics, and outdoor learning
- Two pickleball courts to encourage active living and friendly competition
- Picnic tables and benches handcrafted by volunteers and placed throughout the park

The St. Clair County United Way Centennial Park will be located in The Town of Susan Moore.
